The Orion SPC Inspection Workstation
has the ability to interface with advance metrology products, both contact and non-contact gauging, giving you fast and accurate measurements. While allowing real time inspection and process control.
|
Laser
The Orion SPC Workstation
is fully compatible with laser inspection gauging. When using lasers as the preferred measurement device, we provide two options:
- Single / Multiple point inspection: Measurements are taken at specific predetermined locations
- Profile: A sweep or scan can be performed to generate a profile of the product as either the part or the laser moves or rotates in a set pattern.
|
| The laser offers high precise and accurate measurements without the need to make physical contact with the product being inspected. |

Spring Push or Pneumatic Push Digital Gauging Probes
In a conventional ‘pencil’ probe the tip pushes outwards under the influence of an internal spring. When installed in a fixture a mechanism is frequently required to bring the probe into contact with the piece part being gauged.
In contrast, pneumatic operation allows the number of moving parts in a fixture to be reduced, resulting in improved reliability and reduced fixture costs. It also enables fast and safe automatic loading of components into a gauge when required.

Feather Touch Digital
Gauging Probes
Feather Touch probes have been designed especially to gauge delicate surfaces such as car windscreens, TV tubes, pharmaceutical bottles, electrical components and plastic parts. Whereas a normal gauging probe exerts a tip force of approx. 70 grams, the Feather Touch is a mere 18 grams when used in the horizontal position. This is achieved by replacing the naturally elastic traditional gaiter with a close tolerance gland. On pneumatic versions the air leakage through the gland is restricted to less than 6.0 milliliters per second at 1 bar to minimize the possibility of contaminating to the surface being gauged. |

Replaceable nylon tips guard against surface damage, although for measuring hot glass, for example, tungsten carbide tips can be fitted. Various diameter ruby tips are also available. Optional woven steel braid covering on the cable provides additional protection for applications where down time is critical.
Linear Encoders
- A superlative measurement accuracy over the full measurement range.
- A choice of stroke length (12, 25, 50 & 100mm/0.5, 1, 2 & 4 inch).
- Spring push, pneumatic, free motion and motor drive actuation.
- Mechanical compatibility with standard gauge probes.
- Robustness and reliability.
- Direct, immediate readout in mm or inches.
- The power of the Orbit Network: allows simple, modular network system.
